Amader Bangladesh Online news Desk: Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 30th August, 2016 declaring programs protesting and condemning the government’s conspiracy to kill Jamaat-e-Islami’s central executive committee member, noted entrepreneur, social worker and media personality Mir Quasem Ali and demanding the release of all the detained Jamaat leaders.
“The government, as a part of their planned conspiracy is killing Jamaat-e-Islami’s top leaders one by one. Mir Quasem Ali is also a victim of that conspiracy. The government had lodged a case of so called crimes against humanity against Mir Quasem Ali in connection with some false, fictitious and concocted allegations. The authority also produced some own party men before the court as false witness to confirm his death penalty.
The honorable court today (30th August) has declared his death penalty in that government filed false case based on some fake witnesses. He became deprived from justice due to this verdict.
Mir Quasem Ali has no nexus with the allegations brought against him. His name is not found in the prosecution submitted documents as well. The places, time and date of the offences which have been stated against Mir Quasem Ali, the prosecution documents rather exhibited that he was not present in the place of occurrence at that time. He was in Dhaka in those days. Mir Quasem Ali also submitted his alibi in the court accordingly. So it has been proved beyond reasonable doubt that during the commission of crimes Mir Quasem Ali was in Dhaka, not in Chittagong. Despite such obvious evidences, the prosecution placed false testimony against him to confirm his death penalty. But the countrymen do not accept the verdict of this false and conspiracy case.
The government has arranged this farcical trial in order to achieve its ill political interest and it has no credibility both in home and abroad. The ministers and the ruling party leaders in different previous occasions had made remarks and comments targeting the judges. To the people, such role of the ruling party leaders is nothing but a naked interference and pressure upon the judiciary. His family thinks, Mir Quasem Ali has been deprived from justice because of the executive interference. From trial process in tribunal to the review hearing, in all steps, the government has made unwanted interference to influence the trial procedure repeatedly. Such provocative role of the government would be marked as a stigmatized chapter in the history of the judiciary.
The countrymen are well acknowledged that after the establishment of the government sponsored ‘Gono Jagoron Moncho’, the Prime Minister had made a call upon the justice to declare verdict considering the demand of that controversial platform. Immediate before the verdict of the appellate division, two ministers had made unlawful comments centering this trial procedure. The appellate division also punished those two ministers for their unwanted comment as well.
On behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, I am declaring nationwide hortal (strike) from 6 am to 6 pm on 31st August, Wednesday the government’s conspiracy to kill Mir Quasem Ali and demanding the release of all the detained Jamaat leaders.
I am urging all units and wings of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the people of all quarters including farmers, labors, students, teachers, intellectuals, civil society members and professionals to observe this strike peacefully.
Special note: Hortal (strike) will not be applicable for ambulances, dead body taking vehicles, hospitals, fire services and media transports and Hajj pilgrims bound vehicles.
